About Numero® Australia

Numero® Australia is an Australian-owned and operated business that creates educational games and accessories designed to enhance mental maths and problem-solving skills for all ages. The Numero® card game was invented in 1993 by Rev. Frank Drysdale after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. He shared it with the world in 1994 and donated the game I.P. to Alzheimer’s WA in 1995.

Committed to honouring her father’s legacy, Julie Richards and her family partnered with Ignite Search to modernise Numero®, launching a digital app version and updating the game’s design to improve accessibility for players with cognitive and physical challenges for classrooms everywhere and for competitions.

We set to work with an initial brand identity workshop with the Numero® team at our offices and worked to clarify and solidify Numero®’s brand’s core values, mission, personality, and unique selling points, ultimately creating a cohesive and memorable brand experience.  From there, we outlined our next steps towards transforming Numero® for the modern age.

What was the challenge?

As a one-of-a-kind leading mental math card game with a growing digital presence, Numero® needed a brand refresh with a modern website to match. Julie wanted to maintain her father’s original brand design with minimal changes to preserve her father’s original look and feel of the game. This opened exploration into a new typeface and digital recreation of the illustrations.

We were also set the goal of expanding Numero’s existing reach in both the education and gaming industries as a coveted educational and self-improvement tool. The key objectives were:

  • A dynamic, engaging design: The game and website had to reflect the modern and multi-applicable nature of Numero®, appealing to both educators, students and individuals while enhancing the user experience.
  • Scalability for future expansion: With the success of the physical game, the website needed to support future growth as a new app was in development and primed for imminent release. With the new app, new landing pages needed to be planned out to include new game features, tutorials and educational resources.
  • Optimised mobile experience: Given that many users access Numero® on tablets and mobile devices, the redesign prioritised a smooth, responsive experience to include younger, prominent mobile-technology users.
  • Stronger online visibility: Enhancing SEO and discoverability was crucial to ensuring more educators, students, and gaming enthusiasts could find and play the Numero® game.

The Solution

Once the branding had been finalised, we created Numero®’s brand guidelines to help with the roll out of the new brand everywhere Numero® can be found.

Social Media Templates: To keep things looking sharp, we designed a set of custom social media templates that stay true to the Numero style and make sure every post is polished and on-brand across all platforms.

Packaging Refresh: We made sure the brand’s new look shined through in every detail, redesigning everything from playing cards and boxes to posters, rules sheets and teacher aids—each piece now perfectly matches the updated style.

Product Photoshoot: After the packaging redesign, we organised a professional photoshoot to capture stunning product images that help create a deeper connection with customers and make the products stand out.

Print Marketing: Following the refined brand guidelines, we reimagined a range of print materials, including flyers, pull-up banners, adverts, stationery, and certificates. The result? A modern, cohesive look that feels fresh and professional.

Email Marketing: We integrated Numero with HubSpot to build a strong customer database, and created custom email templates to help keep customers engaged with well-designed, targeted campaigns.

App Promotion: With the launch of the Numero app, we put together a strategy that included landing pages built to attract new subscribers. Plus, we helped spread the word with social media posts, flyers, and email campaigns to get people excited.
